Etsy UK Fee Calculator: See What a Sale Really Costs
Run a UK order through the full fee stack — the 6.5% transaction fee, 4% + £0.20 payment processing, the 0.48% UK Regulatory Operating Fee, Offsite Ads and currency conversion — and land on true profit instead of headline revenue.
What a UK Sale Really Costs
A £50 order looks like £50 in revenue, but Etsy removes money in six possible places before a penny reaches the seller. Getting the full stack right is what separates a fee estimate from a profit calculation.
Six fee lines, not one
Listing, transaction, payment processing, the UK regulatory operating fee, Offsite Ads on attributed orders, and currency conversion when the listing currency differs from the payout currency. Each is calculated on a different base.
One of them is new to UK sellers
The 0.48% UK Regulatory Operating Fee is a distinct line on top of the transaction fee and processing. It is small per order but recurring, and its basis is the same order total the other percentage fees use.
Fees are not the whole story
After Etsy's fees come the seller's own costs: product cost, actual postage, packaging, advertising spend and labour. A calculator that stops at the fee table still hides the part the seller controls.
A per-order view beats a monthly guess
Walking one order through every line shows where the margin lives. Multiplying a hand-waved fixed percentage across a month reruns the same guess in bulk.
Values on this page follow the workspace's verified UK configuration. Example figures are illustrative only and are rounded to the nearest penny; the calculator keeps full precision internally.
The Fee Stack for a UK Sale
The calculator's UK seller model, exactly as the workspace applies it: every amount is derived from the same verified configuration used by the app.
| Fee | UK amount (GBP) | Basis | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | 0.16 | Per sale / renewal | US$0.20 billed in USD; 0.16 shown at the app's indicative 0.80 GBP/USD for display only |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Order total | Price plus shipping charged |
| Payment processing | 4% + 0.20 | Order total | Etsy Payments UK processing |
| UK Regulatory Operating Fee | 0.48% | Order total | Price plus shipping as modelled; effective 22 Jun 2026 |
| Offsite Ads | 15% / 12% | Attributed orders | Capped US$100 (displayed 80); rate depends on the account |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | Only when currencies differ | Listing currency vs payment-account currency |
The first four rows apply to every UK sale in the model. Offsite Ads applies only when an order is attributed; currency conversion applies only when the listing and payout currencies differ. Neither is a fixed UK cost.
The UK Regulatory Operating Fee, Grounded in the Configuration
The workspace's verified UK configuration sets the UK Regulatory Operating Fee at 0.48% of the order total, marked effective 22 June 2026 for UK-based sellers. That single number, and that basis, is what this page and the app both use.
What the rate is
0.48% of the order total as modelled — the item price plus the shipping charge — stacked on top of the 6.5% transaction fee and the 4% + £0.20 processing fee. This page does not add or soften that rate.
What it brings to a UK order
On the worked £50 order below it is £0.24. Small enough to ignore on a single sale, large enough to matter across a month of volume — exactly the kind of line a headline-revenue view skips.
How it is sourced
The rate, the effective date and the basis come from the workspace's fee configuration, which is checked against Etsy's published regulatory operating fee article and carries a 14 September 2026 verification stamp.
What is not claimed
No claim is made that this page mirrors every settlement detail of every UK account. VAT treatment, refund amendments and corner cases are account-specific; verify the line against your own statements.
This page describes the fee only as the calculator's verified configuration models it. It does not extend the percentage to circumstances the tool does not cover.
Worked Example: A GBP 46 Item With GBP 4 Shipping
Illustrative only — a UK seller, item at £46.00 with £4.00 shipping charged to the buyer, product cost £20.00, actual postage £3.50, no Offsite Ads attached, no currency conversion. Every figure is rounded to the nearest penny.
Fee breakdown on the GBP 50 order
| Line | Rate | Amount | Driver |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order total | — | 50.00 | £46.00 item + £4.00 shipping |
| Listing fee | US$0.20 | 0.16 | Billed in USD, shown at indicative rate |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | 3.25 | 6.5% of 50.00 |
| Payment processing | 4% + 0.20 | 2.20 | 4% of 50.00 + flat 0.20 |
| UK Regulatory Operating Fee | 0.48% | 0.24 | 0.48% of 50.00 |
| Total Etsy fees | — | 5.85 | 11.7% of the order total |
| Contribution profit | — | 44.15 | 50.00 − 5.85, before seller costs |
From contribution to true profit
| Line | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Order revenue | 50.00 | What the buyer pays |
| Etsy fees | − 5.85 | Stack above |
| Product cost | − 20.00 | Illustrative |
| Actual postage | − 3.50 | Illustrative |
| True profit before tax | 20.65 | 41.3% of order revenue |
The £5.85 of fees is 11.7% of the order before a single seller cost is paid. Contribution hides that; true profit shows it. The workspace models both lines.
All costs are illustrative and the numbers are rounded. Carry the real cost fields into the workspace rather than reusing these figures.
Discounts, Offsite Ads and Currency Conversion
Three conditions move the fee stack on the same £50 starting order. Each is a switch in the workspace, and none is assumed on by default.
| Scenario | Order total | Etsy fees | Contribution | Driver |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base order | 50.00 | 5.85 | 44.15 | No discount, no attribution, no conversion |
| 10%-off coupon | 45.40 | 5.35 | 40.05 | Price drops to 41.40, shipping unchanged |
| Attributed at 12% | 50.00 | 11.85 | 38.15 | Offsite Ads 12% × 50.00 |
| Attributed at 15% | 50.00 | 13.35 | 36.65 | Offsite Ads 15% × 50.00 |
| Currency conversion | 50.00 | 7.10 | 42.90 | 2.5% only when currencies differ |
What the variations teach
- The coupon costs £4.60 of revenue but only £0.50 of fees, so contribution falls £4.10 — discounts cost more than the fee saving they earn.
- An attributed order at 15% hands £7.50 of one £50 order to Offsite Ads alone, on top of the base £5.85.
- Currency conversion appears only when the listing and payout currencies differ; for most domestic sales it is not on the stack at all.
- Every percentage fee shrinks with a smaller order total, which is what lets the fee reduction on a discounted sale look like a saving.
A US$100 per-order maximum applies to the Offsite Ads fee in the current configuration; the workspace displays it as around £80 for a UK account, purely as a display conversion of a US-denominated published figure.
How UK Fees Are Calculated
Each line uses the same base — the discounted price plus the shipping charged — except the flat item. That consistency is what keeps the model honest line by line.
Order total = item price × (1 − discount%) + shipping charged
Then, on a UK sale, in order:
- Listing fee = US$0.20, shown at the indicative rate
- Transaction fee = 6.5% × order total
- Payment processing = 4% × order total + £0.20
- UK Regulatory Operating Fee = 0.48% × order total
- Offsite Ads = 15% or 12% of the order, capped at US$100, only on attributed orders
- Currency conversion = 2.5% of the order when listing and payout currencies differ
Rates match the workspace's verified UK configuration only, and no universal accuracy is claimed for circumstances the tool does not model. Fees vary by country and account; verify the lines against your own Etsy payment account statements.

Etsy UK Fee Questions
What is the UK Regulatory Operating Fee on Etsy?
A regulatory operating fee of 0.48% of the order total, calculated on the item price plus the shipping charge in the calculator's verified UK configuration. The configuration marks it effective 22 June 2026 for UK-based sellers. It is a small, recurring percentage that sits on top of the transaction fee and payment processing.
How much does Etsy charge overall on a UK sale?
The UK fee stack in the calculator's configuration is a US$0.20 listing fee (shown around GB pound 0.16 for display), a 6.5% transaction fee on the order total, 4% plus GB pound 0.20 payment processing, and the 0.48% UK Regulatory Operating Fee. When they apply, Offsite Ads fees and currency conversion are added on top.
Is the 0.48% UK Regulatory Operating Fee the same for every seller?
The verified UK configuration uses a single 0.48% rate for UK-based sellers, and the same figure is used for every UK calculation on this page and in the workspace. Settlement details, VAT treatment and corner cases can still vary by account, so confirm against your own Etsy payment account statements.
What is the 4% + GBP 0.20 payment processing fee?
It is Etsy Payments processing in the UK configuration: 4% of the order total plus a flat GB pound 0.20. It is assessed on the order amount, so it scales with price and shipping charged, independent of the transaction fee.
Why does the page show the listing fee as GBP 0.16?
Etsy's listing fee is US$0.20 and is billed in US dollars. Sellers whose payment account is in pounds are converted at Etsy's market rate, which is not a separate fee. The workspace displays approximately GB pound 0.16 in its UK configuration using an indicative 0.80 GBP per US dollar, purely for display.
How do Offsite Ads fees apply to a UK sale?
Offsite Ads is a percentage of an attributed order at one of two published rates, 15% and 12%, with a US$100 per-order maximum in the current configuration (shown around GB pound 80 for display). The rate depends on the account, and the fee is charged only on orders Etsy attributes to the program.
When does Etsy charge the 2.5% currency conversion fee?
Only when the listing currency differs from the payment-account currency. Sales priced and paid in the same currency carry no conversion fee, which is why the worked example treats it as an optional line rather than a fixed UK cost.
Why is contribution profit not my real profit?
Contribution profit subtracts only the Etsy fees from the order total. True profit for a UK seller also has to absorb product cost, the actual postage paid, packaging, any advertising spend and labour, not to mention VAT and returns. The workspace keeps each of these as a separate line so contribution and net profit are not confused.
Do the rates on this page match the calculator in the app?
Yes. Every rate stated here mirrors the verified UK configuration in the workspace's fee engine, checked against Etsy's published sources on 14 September 2026. This page makes no claim beyond that single configuration, and it deliberately avoids guessing at rates the tool does not model.
